Discover the new 2025 Cadillac Optiq EV

The highly anticipated 2025 Cadillac Optiq is making waves in the automotive world with its impressive features and specifications. This new electric SUV comes standard with dual-motor all-wheel drive, offering a combined 300 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. Despite having a wheelbase nearly six inches shorter than the Lyriq, the Optiq boasts an 85.0-kWh battery, allowing it to achieve a claimed range of 300 miles.

A Perfectly Sized Package

The Optiq's interior is crafted with exquisite materials, providing a luxurious experience for both driver and passengers. With an estimated starting price of $54,000, this two-row SUV is set to go on sale this fall. Unlike the larger Lyriq, the Optiq feels right-sized, offering spacious accommodations and a usefully sized rear cargo compartment. The absence of a front trunk allows for optimal packaging of peripherals, enhancing the vehicle's overall functionality.

Stylish and Sporty Design

The Optiq's exterior is just as impressive as its interior. Featuring a notably raked windshield and a low, short hood, the vehicle exudes sportiness and sophistication. The optional 21-inch wheel and tire package (20s are standard) enhances its stance, while subtle styling tweaks, such as the negative camber in the front daytime running lights and rear taillight signatures, give the Optiq a hunkered-down, road-hugging appearance.

Advanced Engineering and Performance

Although we haven't had the chance to drive the Optiq yet, the engineering team behind its chassis tuning includes veterans from the Corvette and the CT-4 and CT-5 V Blackwing projects. Their expertise promises a low amount of body roll and a favorable ride and handling balance, thanks to the Passive Plus dampers that adapt to different driving conditions.

Efficient and Powerful Powertrain

All Optiq models will feature a dual-motor all-wheel drive system, with the front end powered by a permanent-magnet synchronous AC motor. This setup maximizes energy recuperation via regenerative braking and enables efficient front-drive operation when cruising. The rear asynchronous AC induction motor adds substantial power without creating drag when de-energized. Together, these motors deliver 300 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque, translating to 480 newton-meters, which is likely reflected in the Optiq's 480 badging.

Impressive Range and Charging Capabilities

With a 116.3-inch wheelbase, the Optiq accommodates an 85.0-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, providing an estimated 300 miles of range for the 5200-pound SUV. The Optiq also comes with a dual-level charge cord for 110V trickle charging or 240V charging via a NEMA 14-50 outlet. The onboard charger supports 19.2-kW charging rates, while the DC fast-charge circuitry can add 79 miles of range in just 10 minutes, thanks to its 150-kW capability and 400-volt battery architecture.

Luxurious Interior

The Optiq's interior sets a new standard for luxury. Featuring a stylish 33-inch screen that seamlessly blends the instrument panel with the infotainment screen, the cabin avoids touchscreen overload by retaining physical controls. The use of 100 percent recycled coarse-weave fabric adds an organic, luxurious touch, complemented by brushed aluminum trim and a resin-encased center section around the cupholders. The seats offer premium comfort, with the upgraded model providing heated and ventilated front seats and heated rear seats.

Two Grades and Trims

The 2025 Cadillac Optiq will be available in two grades: Optiq 1 (base model) and Optiq 2 (upgraded model). Standard features include a panoramic glass roof, a 19-speaker AKG premium audio system with Dolby Atmos, and three years of Super Cruise. Both grades will offer 20-inch wheels as standard, with 21s as an option. Additionally, two trim options—Luxury and Sport—will cater to different aesthetic preferences, with corresponding wheel designs.

The 2025 Cadillac Optiq is set to hit the market this fall, and we are eager to see if its luxury features are matched by the performance expected from its Corvette and Blackwing engineering pedigree. Stay tuned for more updates and a detailed driving review as we get closer to its release.
